Triumph Triple Challenge All Set For Brands Hatch Big Weekend

Triumph Triple Challenge All Set For Brands Hatch Big Weekend

Press Release Issued By Triumph Triple Challenge Press (May 3, 2008)

The Triumph Triple Challenge will race in front of its biggest crowd to date next weekend, when it supports the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch in Kent.

The meeting, originally scheduled as a standard Bemsee event, has been altered to allow the BSB to run the two races, which were cancelled due to wintery weather conditions at the start of the season. With the event taking place on the famous Grand Prix circuit, it should be an epic third round for the riders in the Michelin Young Guns and the TDG Cup.

Just a week ago, Mark Cringle took a brace of wins at Cadwell Park to extend his lead in the Michelin Young Guns Trophy to 29 points ahead of Josh Wainwright. Andrew Marriott is 18 points further back in third place, but he is just two points clear of Reece Rothwell – who suffered a nightmare weekend in Lincolnshire – and Scott Rowbottom, who are tied on 65 points.

In the TDG Cup Mark Cheetham holds a slender 7 point advantage over Jack Sim, who has been tracking him in virtually every race so far this season. None of the other riders in the class have managed to find the tops step of the podium so far this year, with Cheetham and Sim sealing it up so far.

Brazillian Rhalf Lo Turco has stayed consistent and currently lies in third place, just eight points behind Sim. Meanwhile, Paul Hughes and Ricky Chadwick round out the top five, with just two points separating them in fourth and fifth place respectively.

The long straights and twisty sections of the Brands Hatch GP track should allow all of the riders the chance to show off the brilliant all-round characteristics of the Triumph Daytona 675 machines over the course of the weekend, especially in front of what is expected to be a huge BSB fan base at the Kent venue.

All of the riders on the TTC grid will be aiming for glory over the course of the weekend and the racing right the way down the order should be fantastic.

The weekend will kick off for the Triple Challenge grid with a single qualifying session on Saturday morning, with the first o two aces later in the afternoon. The second race will take place right between the two BSB races on Sunday afternoon.
