Ducati's Casey Stoner took the win in Australia this evening (California time . . . the race was held on Sunday in Australia). Stoner won from pole position with Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) finishing a close second, and Dani Pedrosa (Honda) finishing a relatively distant third. Championship contender Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) crashed out of the race on the first lap.
With Lorenzo's DNF, Rossi stretches his championship points lead to 38 points with just two races remaining. For additional details, results and points, visit the official MotoGP site here.
