In a race dominated by Max Biaggi (Yamaha) until the last several laps (where he faded due to a poor tire choice), Repsol Honda’s Tadayuki Okada took the victory over his second place teammate Alex Criville (Honda) in the Czech 500 GP on August 22, 1999
Okada went from third place to first place on the last lap, surviving a huge slide four turns from the finish. Ultimately, Biaggi finished fourth behind Kenny Roberts (Suzuki).
Criville continues to have a substantial points lead in the championship race.
