Five-time World 500cc GP champion Mick Doohan is recovering well from his injuries incurred at the Spanish Grand Prix on May 7, 1999.
After undergoing surgery shortly after his crash, Doohan has been going through physical rehabilitation in San Francisco, California, home of his surgeons. Apparently, Doohan’s broken leg, collarbone and wrist are all fully healed, and relatively rehabilitated through exercise. The only problem Doohan continues to have is weakness in his left arm, which suffered nerve damage in the accident.
Doohan’s left arm is still too weak to risk making a comeback next week at the Czechoslovakian Grand Prix. Doohan originally chose the Czech Grand Prix as his target return to racing, but it now looks like he will not be back racing until at leas the Spanish Grand Prix on September 5, 1999.
