With the 500 race stopped and restarted (declared a “wet” race) after the first few laps, Honda-mounted Alex Barros came through with the victory, followed by Alex Criville (Honda) and Loris Capirossi (Honda).

Capirossi overcame broken bones in his hand from a morning crash. Current points leader Kenny Roberts (Suzuki) had a big high-side crash on the first lap of the race, but apparently was not seriously injured.

The 250 GP was won by Tohru Ukawa (Honda) followed by the Yamahas of Olivier Jacque and Shinya Nakano.

Roberts and Nakano have the points lead in the 500 and 250 championship race, respectively.
