Honda’s Valentino Rossi has won both 500 GP roadraces this season, including today’s race in Welkom, South Africa. Honda dominated the 500 class with Loris Capirossi finishing second and Tohru Ukawa third. Defending champion Kenny Roberts, Jr. (Suzuki) finished well back in seventh place.

In the 250 class, a nail-biter was won by the Honda of Daijiro Katoh over the Aprilia of Marco Melandri.
