Marlboro Yamaha’s Max Biaggi
Yamaha’s Max Biaggi ended the winnning streak of Valentino Rossi (Honda) today at the French GP. Yamaha took the top two podium positions, with Carlos Checa finishing behind Biaggi, and Rossi finishing third. Biaggi broke the lap record in the process of taking his victory.
The big news came in the 250 class where Honda’s Daijiro Katoh took his fourth straight victory (the first to do so since Mike Hailwood in 1966) in the 250 class. Katoh set the fastest lap of the race on the last lap to just edge out the Aprilia of Tetsuya Harada. Marco Melandri (Aprilia) bravely rode to third place despite dislocating his shoulder earlier this weekend.
