Ben Spies added a second World championship for Yamaha today (Valentino Rossi also clinched the MotoGP title today) at the final Portimao round of the WSB series. Spies won the first race while rival Noriyuki Haga (Ducati) crashed out. Finishing second and third in Race 1 were Jonathan Rea (Honda) and Max Biaggi (Aprilia), respectively.
Race 2 saw Spies ride conservatively to a fifth place finish to clinch the title. Race 2 was won by Michel Fabrizio (Ducati) ahead of teammate Haga in second and Rea in third.
