The roadracing GP series arrived at Germany’s Sachsenring road course on July 18, 1999, and American Kenny Roberts (formerly known as Kenny Roberts, Jr. — he no longer wants to be known for who is father is, obviously) won his third 500 GP race of the season from the pole position.
After an early battle with fellow American (and fellow Northern Californian) John Kocinski, Roberts held off championship points leader Alex Crivillé, to take the win.
After finishing second, Crivillé maintains a comfortable lead in the championship points.
