Colin Edwards on Pole for Austrian Superbike

In inconsistent, rainy weather, the top 16 riders ran a 12-lap SuperPole at Austria’s A-1 Ring on Saturday, August 28, 1999, with American Colin Edwards (Honda) ending up on top.

The weather posed problems for riders and their mechanics, who struggled to set up their bikes, but the SuperPole leaders, nevertheless, ended up being the series top riders, with Britain’s Carl Fogarty (Ducati) in second, and Japan’s Akira Yanagawa (Kawasaki) in third. New Zealander Aaron Slight (Honda) filled out the first row of the grid.
