Mick Doohan will have additional surgery this week to remove a plate and six screws from his left wrist – hardware that was put in during surgery after his crash at Jerez, Spain on May 7, 1999.

Doohan hopes this will speed the strengthening of his left arm and hand, which is apparently the final element missing from his rehabilitation to race motorcycles at the World Championship level.
