In conjunction with its dealer meeting in New Orleans beginning September 8, 1999, Honda announced that it had signed Miguel Duhamel to race the new V-twin RC51 next year, along with teammate Nicky Hayden. There had been speculation that Duhamel might go elsewhere for 2000, and Honda undoubtedly paid him a handsome salary to return to the fold.

It will be very interesting to see how quickly Honda becomes competitive with its brand new machine. Both of these riders have proven themselves to be extremely fast and aggressive, and they do not like to run around mid-pack. It will be an exciting year.
