Just two days after speculating whether Suzuki was planning a hard-core motocrosser based on the new DR-Z400 enduro bike, MD has heard from a reliable source that Suzuki is already testing such a model, and expects to release it to dealers in approximately April, 2000.

Apparently, Suzuki claims the 400cc four-stroke motocrosser will be faster and better handling than Yamaha’s YZ400. MD has also heard that the DR-Z400 (see MD’s September 28, 1999 article) has out performed Yamaha’s off-roader, the WR400, in testing.

Yamaha has given the other manufacturers something to shoot at with its YZ400 and WR400. Apparently, Suzuki has taken dead aim.
