The AMA announced Friday that Chevy Trucks has signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement
covering several AMA series. Chevy will sponsor the AMA Superbike Championship (now the
AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Superbike Championships) and the AMA Motocross Championship (now the
AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships). Chevy will also be the title sponsor of the
U.S. Motocross Des Nations team and the “Official Truck” of the AMA Flat Track Championships.
An AMA official says that the entire deal cost Chevy Trucks 1.8 million, and has been in the works for
several months. I’ve also heard that next year the AMA 750cc Supersport Championship will be
renamed the “750cc Production Championship” or something similar.
