McGrath (250) and Pastrana (125) Win St. Louis Supercross

Jeremy McGrath (Yamaha) continued to steamroll the competition in St. Louis last evening, winning his seventh main event in the 250cc AMA Supercross series, and further extending his points lead. In a rather uneventful, and almost boring race, McGrath took the lead early on after David Vuillemin (Yamaha) stalled his bike, and McGrath stretched that lead to the checkered flag. Vuillemin finished second, and Kawasaki’s Ricky Carmichael finished third. Very little passing occurred among the leaders during the race.

In the 125 class, last week’s first-time winner, Travis Pastrana (Suzuki), won again in St. Louis. Early race leader, Brock Sellards (Honda) again finished in second place (he has finished in second place in every Eastern 125cc Supercross race this year). Yamaha’s Stephane Roncada finished in third.

The St. Louis track was less technical than many of the tracks this year, but included an unusual “ski-studder bump” section that caused some riders problems.

Sellards maintains his 125cc championship points lead, while McGrath, as stated earlier, remains on top, with a 30 point gap over second place David Vuillemin in the 250 class.
