What follows is a post from “Jammer864” on the interesting (but confusing to navigate) Mototalk 2 which we feel is representative of how many supercross/motocross fans are feeling about Jeff Emig’s recent injuries. We are very sorry to see this happen yet again to Jeff, who certainly has had more than his share of injuries this year. Watching Jeff ride outdoors was always a thrill. Fro was one of the fastest and smoothest outdoor riders ever — just a few short years ago, Jeff dominated the Outdoor Nationals. All of us at MD wish Jeff a speedy recovery, and look forward to seeing him find his place back in the sport soon.
“Dang, what bad news to hear today about Emig. Tammy and I were both looking forward to his comeback this summer, his chance to redeem himself. Tammy feels like crying and I am just bummed out. It’s almost like it isn’t real yet, learning the news over the computer just doesn’t seem like the real thing until you get to the races and see that Fro isn’t out there on the track. Of course life goes on. Favorite racers have come and gone since motocross started. David Bailey, thankfully, is still out there doing his ESPN2 gig every race. Every time I am behind somebody on the track, I think of David’s comments on ESPN2 “You can’t pass if you follow”. If Jeff’s racing career is indeed over, we hope that he can find something that keeps him happy. You know, Emig is no god. He’s just a guy that we enjoyed watching race since we got back into MX around the time that he had to win Steel City in order to beat MC for the 250 Natinal Championship, and HE CAME THRU. HE DID IT. What a great competitor he was, then. His heart was really in it. Then he got sidetracked with the trappings of MX Stardom (I still wonder where his real friends were during that time). This year, finally, the time was right for him to show everyone his heart was still in it. The US Open in Vegas was a great race for him and if his racing days are over, we will always remember how he spanked everyone in the last professional race of his career.”
Another post on Mototalk 2 from “dlynn” should also be of interest to Jeff Emig fans. Please take a few minutes to send Fro an e-mail, and let him know you’re thinking about him.
“Hey everyone….
As you all know, with Emig hurt while in process of making his comeback to racing from his wrist injuries, I just can’t help but think he is going to need his fans more than ever right now to keep his spirits up. As I saw how the emails I received and took to Jimmy affected his spirits, I’d like to offer for people to send any Get Well Wishes to Jeff via my email and I will be sure to take them to him often.
You can email Jeff through me at DG900SSSP2@aol.com and I will see to it that he receives all of them.
Take care,
Dorina @ Chaparral”
