Below is the full text of a KTM press release for the European launch of its off-road models (unedited) — previewing the 2001 125 SX model. The new 125 SX is pictured above.
The major changes are described in the press release — most notably, a new swingarm, and a highly revised engine. There had been rumors of a larger diameter (perhaps, 48mm) set of forks this year, but, apparently, the 43mm forks remain (although re-valved) Other new KTM models will likely share the same suspension components.

Most important features on the engine and chassis:
- new crankshaft for more of that nippy “SX-Feeling”
- new piston (with 54 mm 0.5 mm more undersquared than 2000)
- modified cylinder specifications achieving even better performance
- new motocross fuel tank which is suited to the more forceful cross-style seat
- new spoiler
- newly tuned WP spring elements (WP 43mm USD multi-adjuster / WP PDS)
