Yates Wins His First AMA Superbike Race of the Season

Suzuki’s Aaron Yates won his first AMA Superbike race of the 2000 season today at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Complex. Yates was victorious after a very aggressive and entertaining dice with Honda’s Miguel Duhamel during the second half of the race. Duhamel, having been passed by Yates on the last lap, crashed after making his own effort to re-pass Yates. Duhamel’s crash handed his teammate, Nicky Hayden, second place, with Kawasaki’s Eric Bostrom third. Duhamel was unhurt.

Tomorrow is race two of the Mid-Ohio double-header.
