2001 Triumph Bonneville Preview

This is 2000, isn’t it? But it looks like a 1969 Triumph Bonneville, … that is, until you notice the cross-drilled front disc brake with twin piston caliper and the small radiator.

This picture has been spreading like wild fire throughout the internet — apparently, an official photograph of Triumph’s new Bonneville 800, to be introduced at Intermot next month. The five-speed, double-overhead cam, 790cc air/oil cooled Bonneville is a very close replica to the 1969 model. Kawasaki’s W650 is in for some serious competition.

My information indicates dealer availability in December of this year. If you have been longing for a perfectly-restored 60’s-era Bonneville, and you have the cash, here’s your chance to avoid the oil leaks and headaches — and get substantially more performance in the bargain.

We’ll be back with all the details, including price, dry weight (rumored to be 462 pounds) and other information when we get our hands on a press kit.
