If you were racing a prestigious national championship series and expecting to win against trick, factory-backed bikes with great pro riders aboard, would you ride a stock bike? Would you ride six different stock bikes, rotating them at random without practicing on several of them? Probably not.
Probably not, unless your name is Shane Watts.
As KTM’s press department was kind enough to inform us, Shane Watts won last weekend’s GNCC final event (Round 14 — he had already clinched the championship after Round 12 a month ago). In the process, Mr. Watts won a GNCC event while riding a KTM 380 E/XC — the sixth different KTM he has ridden to victory this season!
Lest you think he did this without significant competition, remember that riders such as Kawasaki’s Paul Edmondson, Suzuki’s Rodney Smith and Mike Kiedrowski, and others, are world class. They competed with Watts in the series, but Watts dominated. Congratulations to Shane Watts and to KTM. I guess both of you made your point.
