Several enthusiast web sites have posted the dyno chart appearing below for Suzuki’s 2001 GSX-R1000. According to the original poster, it is a dyno chart prepared by Yoshimura of a pre-production bike. If the production machines are anywhere near this stout, the GSX-R1000 will be the new power-to-weight champion.
The peak horsepower shown for the stock (albeit pre-production) machine is 148.6. Perhaps, even more impressive than the peak horsepower is the torque curve. With a peak of 78.4 pounds feet, the curve is extremely flat, and exhibits torque figures exceeding 70 pounds feet between roughly 6,000 rpm and 11,000 rpm — a 5,000 rpm spread.
We will dyno our own test unit shortly and post the results.
