Okay, so I finally got to ride the 2001 GSX-R1000 in dry, relatively warm weather, and with correct tire pressures. This isn’t part two to my review . . . consider it an amendment to Part One. I just want to say that this bike is really, really, really fast! It’s useable, too. You just have to ride it carefully at first, and ease your way into using more throttle. The power is really smooth and, with more time on the bike, not really intimidating.
The chassis balance is very good. This contributes greatly to the feeling that the awesome motor is useable. Much more later in part two.
