According to a report e-mailed to us that we consider reliable, Freestyle Motocross pioneer Mike Cinqmars landed short on a huge, 90 foot jump on Sunday in Apple Valley, California. Cinqmars reportedly saw that he was coming up well short of the landing and abandoned his bike, landing feet first on the wrong side of the landing. Injuries sustained include breaking of a spinal vertebra, and pulled ligaments from the spine. Cinqmars is not experiencing any paralysis, according to the report, and should have undergone surgery yesterday.
Cinqmars was considered one of the top three or four freestyle riders when the sport first took off several years ago, and he has continued to be an innovative and popular figure in the sport. He has our best wishes for a full recovery.
