Honda’s new CBR600F4i leaves Daytona with bragging rights, having finished first (Miguel DuHamel), second (Nicky Hayden) and fourth (Kurtis Roberts) in the 600 Supersport final held earlier today. Yamaha’s Anthony Gobert took third place in an exciting dog fight that saw several riders with a chance to draft for the victory on the finish line straight.
DuHamel won despite leading the pack through the final chicane and on to the final banking. The leader at that point in the race typically is drafted successfully by at least one rider. The fact that DuHamel stayed in the lead is a testament to the horsepower and aerodynamics of the new Honda 600.
As a footnote, Miguel DuHamel has won the Superbike race at Daytona three times — each time after winning the 600 Supersport final. The Superbike final is on Sunday.
