Carmichael (250) and Preston (125) Win Houston Supercross

Kawasaki’s Ricky Carmichael rolled to his eighth straight AMA 250 Supercross victory in Houston last evening. Working his way through the pack after a mediocre start, Carmichael passed all of the top competitors within the first several laps, and then proceeded to gap the field considerably. Meanwhile, Jeremy McGrath (Yamaha) worked his way into second place and finished just ahead of Mike LaRocco (Honda)

Husqvarna’s Travis Preston won an exciting and crash-filled 125cc main event in Houston over Greg Schnell (Yamaha) and Rodrig Thain (Suzuki). Houston was a return to the West Coast 125cc series, which is led by Yamaha’s Ernesto Fonseca. Fonseca stalled his four-stroke YZ250F and finished the race in sixth position.

Carmichael now has a substantial 32 point lead over second place McGrath in the 250cc championship series.
