Carmichael (250) and Ward (250F) Take Red Bud National Motocross

Kawasaki’s Ricky Carmichael was the one with good luck yesterday at Red Bud Track-N-Trail, with Honda’s Sebastien Tortelli fighting mechanical problems (or a lack of gas) on the final lap in the first moto, and allowing Carmichael victory. Carmichael went 1/1 on the day for his 37th overall AMA National motocross victory (tying the all-time record of Bob Hannah). Honda’s Ryan Hughes rebounded from some mediocre results recently to finish second overall (5/2) and Carmichael’s teammate, Stephane Roncada, finished third overall (3/4).

In the 125 class, the privateer Yamaha YZ250F piloted by Larry Ward, took the overall (2/2) ahead Suzuki’s Travis Pastrana (1/4) and KTM’s Grant Langston (5/1). Langston rode well despite a seriously injured shoulder.

Carmichael and Pastrana each have healthy points leads in their respective championship classes.
