Anthony Gobert’s highly anticipated confrontation with WSB stars at Laguna Seca this weekend will not happen. Injuries suffered by Gobert at the last round of the AMA Superbike championship (including, specifically, a broken wrist) made it too painful for Gobert to practice and qualify on the Superbike today, and he will not race his R7 this weekend.
With the AMA and WSB programs running back-to-back at Laguna Seca this weekend, Gobert will instead attempt to race AMA 600 Supersport — a class where he has a very real shot at the championship this year. Even in the 600 class, however, Gobert qualified ninth and is far from his usual pace at or near the front. We will have reports on Laguna Seca’s racing as the weekend progresses.
