Kawasaki’s former supercross and outdoor motocross champion, Jeff Emig, is rumored to be practicing in preparation for the final Outdoor National at Steel City, Pennsylvania. Emig, who carries number three under the AMA’s new numbering system (former champions receive one through ten) needs to earn at least one point this year to keep the number.
Apparently, Emig has been testing a KX125 at local tracks in Southern California in preparation for his return.
Jeff Emig was one of the most fluid and fast outdoor motocross riders ever, before a series of injuries ended his career prior to the 2000 season. Emig was the only rider to break Jeremy McGrath’s string of supercross championshps before Ricky Carmichael beat McGrath earlier this year.
