We are hearing that Team USA will not attend the Motocross des Nations later this month in Belgium due to safety concerns arising from the terrorist acts earlier this week in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.
The AMA had been “up in the air” concerning this decision but, apparently, a final decision has been made against traveling so soon after these tragedies. The U.S. team would have consisted of Ricky Carmichael, Kevin Windham and Mike Brown, and would have been one of the favorites for a first place finish.
Several top riders will be skipping the des Nations this year, including Sebastien Tortelli and Grant Langston, among others. As a result, this great annual event in motorcycling will lose some of its luster this year.
