With the cancellation of the Willow Springs round of the AMA 600 Supersport championship series this weekend, only one round remains — at Virginia International Raceway in two weeks.
Kawasaki’s Eric Bostrom currently has a 31 point lead over second place Miguel Duhamel (Honda), and a 32 point lead over third place Anthony Gobert (Yamaha). These are the only two riders with a mathematical chance for the championship, but Bostrom (assuming Duhamel wins the Virginia event and gains each of the points for pole position and most laps led) need only finish in 24th place, or better to take the 600 Supersport championship. This is a far cry from last year’s final event in the championship, where Bostrom and Kurtis Roberts (Honda) were neck-and-neck for the championship, with Roberts winning the final round and winning the championship by just one point.
