According to a report in Motorcycle News of England, Kawasaki has decided to leave the World Superbike championship after the 2002 season, and campaign the top GP series with a new four-stroke. Kawasaki’s ZX-7R is so old it will be ineligible for WSB racing after 2002, and Kawasaki has no plans to develop and homologate a new 750.
According to MCN, Kawasaki will likely race an inline, four cylinder machine in the 2003 GP series. Kawasaki has been absent from GP racing for more than a decade, and is only coming back due to the rule change permitting four-strokes.
