The godfather of freestyle motocross (remember the original Crusty Demons of Dirt?), Mike Metzger, told us on the phone this evening that he will indeed return to racing supercross next year — competing in the AMA West Coast 125cc Supercross championship aboard a Suzuki.
Mike said that he misses racing, and wants to get back into it. Metz states that he only competes in four to six FMX events each year, and certainly has the time to devote to the supercross series.
He is working with the same trainer who trains Kawasaki’s Stephane Roncada, and has begun racing local events here in Southern California to get back into shape and get his speed where it needs to be.
