With the AMA settling on 450cc as the maximum capacity of a four-stroke campaigining the supercross and outdoor motocross national series, the KTM 520 ridden by John Dowd last year will be illegal in 2002. KTM has been testing various bore/stroke combinations to come up with the most potent 450cc machine. Its current 400cc machine clearly can’t cut it in supercross or outdoor national competition. Expect a production 450cc four-stroke motocrosser from KTM soon.
