Triumph sources have indicated that a totally redesigned Trophy should be introduced as a 2003 model. Expect displacement to be in the neighborhood of 1300cc, and the bike may feature shaft drive (the current model is chain drive).
The Trophy was once an important model for Triumph (offered in both 900cc and 1200cc versions), but the current model (now available only as a 1200) has been without a major update for many years. Indeed, the current design is very similar to the model that was introduced in 1996, and still features the carbureted four-cylinder engine that traces its roots all the way back to the early 1990’s when Triumph was re-launched under the ownership of John Bloor.
Triumph certainly intends the new Trophy will be competitive with other new offerings in the luxury, sport tourer class.
