While Honda’s Valentino Rossi won yet another MotoGP race today at Mugello, Italy (his fourth of the year), it was hardly business as usual. The Yamaha four-stroke machines piloted by Max Biaggi and Carlos Checa made a huge step forward this weekend, and were highly competitive with the Honda four-strokes. Biaggi, who led much of the race, finished second — just 2.4 seconds behind Rossi. Checa finished fourth, behind Rossi’s teammate Tohru Ukawa.
