With the somewhat surprising popularity of Suzuki’s V-Strom, all of the interest generated by KTM’s Duke II V-twin, and the coming tide of street-legal super motards, dirt bike design is hitting the streets.
Dirt bikes have to be super light, super strong, and super stiff. These are the demands of performance off-road riding. As a result, dirt bike engines are light, torquey, and the machines themselves are simplistic (no frills whatsoever). It turns out that these same machines, with sticky street bike tires, are a blast to ride around town or on the highway.
At this point, we would have to say this really is the “next big thing” in street machinery, and we can’t wait to sample more of these bikes. Bring ’em on!
