After following Suzuki’s Sete Gibernau for most of the race, Honda’s Valentino Rossi won the Estoril MotoGP race today in the wet. Gibernau, feeling the pressure from a closing Rossi, crashed with three laps remaining, allowing Rossi to cruise to the win.
Finishing second on the day was Yamaha’s Carlos Checa, ahead of Rossi’s teammate, Tohru Ukawa.
