Australia and Reed Victorious in World Cup of Motocross

The Glen Helen race swiftly organized after the demise of the Motocross des Nations at Competition Park was held yesterday in excellent weather and track conditions. A surprisingly large number of nations took place, despite the Competition Park fiasco, with Australia coming out on top over second place United States.

The big individual winner was Australia’s Chad Reed (Yamaha), moving up to the 250 class to race the new Yamaha YZ450F. Reed had moto scores of 1/2/1 to carry Australia to victory along with teammates Michael Byrne and Craig Anderson.

The U.S. squad of Tim Ferry (also on a YZ450F), Sean Hamblin (Suzuki RM250) and Kyle Lewis (Honda CRF450R) was somewhat inconsistent, but easily took the second position over Canada, which rounded out the podium.
