Another surprising night in a surprising supercross season saw Kawasaki’s Ezra Lusk defeat Chad Reed (Yamaha) in a very tight 250 supercross main event in Phoenix this evening. Reed’s Yamaha teammate, Tim Ferry, rode well to keep defending champion Ricky Carmichael (Honda) off the podium. Carmichael finished fourth after crashing earlier in the main event while running third.
In the 125 Western Region Supercross series, Kawasaki’s James Stewart returned the favor by defeating last week’s winner, Travis Preston (Honda). Stewart finished second to Preston last week. Danny Smith (Suzuki) finished third on the night.
Reed now has the points lead in both the World Supercross GP (after four rounds), as well as the AMA Supercross series (after two rounds). Stewart and Preston are tied for the lead in the 125 Western Region AMA Supercross series. Next week the series returns to Anaheim, California.
