With all the excitement created by the AMA Superbike rule changes this year, the outcome of the Daytona 200 reminded observers of last year. The Honda RC51 dominated the event, with Honda factory bikes taking all three podium positions. Miguel Duhamel won his fourth Daytona 200 (one short of Scott Russell’s record five victories), with teammate Ben Bostrom second and Kurtis Roberts (Erion Honda) third.
The Yoshimura Suzuki of Aaron Yates appeared ready to podium until a few laps from the end of the race when Yates overshot a corner, and lost several places (he was running second at the time). Yates ultimately finished fourth.
