We have a world-wide audience, and we respect that, but we reside in Southern California, and occasionally, we have to focus locally. Many of you know that MD has friends in the freestyle community. A number of freestyle riders were riding in the desert earlier this week, when 19-year-old Christopher Ackerman was very seriously injured. Among those on the scene was MD friend, Mike Metzger.
Currently Christopher is being treated at Loma Linda Hospital in San Bernardino County, California, and his parents have requested that concerned individuals donate blood. Here’s how you can help.
Stop by any one of the following five Riverside/San Bernardino County Blood Bank locations, and let them know you are there to donate blood on behalf of Christopher Ackerman, who is being treated at Loma Linda Hospital. According to one of the Blood Bank representatives, what you are doing is called “replenishment” — the blood you donate doesn’t actually go directly to Christopher, it is used to replenish the blood supply reserves that were tapped into for Christopher’s treatment.
The blood bank locations are as follows:
- 384 Orange Show Road, San Bernardino, CA (phone: 909-885-6503)
- 4006 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA (phone: 909-687-2530)
- 11941 Hesperia Road, Hesperia, CA (phone: 760-949-6344)
- 1148 San Bernardino Road, #203, Upland, CA (phone: 909-987-3158)
This location is only open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday - 1954 East 4th Street, Ontario, CA (phone: 909-920-0625)
It is a time of need for a fellow rider that calls us to give of ourselves. Blood bank reserves are low due to donor shortages. This is a simple and relatively painless way to make a difference in the lives of others.
Please keep Christopher and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
