As we reported earlier, after a year of retirement, Ryan Hughes has been racing KTM four-strokes in national and regional motocross events, winning everything in sight. This past weekend, Hughes won the White Bros. World Four-Stroke Motocross championship at Glen Helen.
All of this four-stroke racing, of course, is a “tune-up” for Hughes real comeback in the 125cc AMA Outdoor National Motocross championships beginning in May. Although the caliber of the four-stroke competition Hughes has been facing may not quite measure up to Bubba Stewart and company (i.e., his rivals in the 125cc class), Hughes has been beating some pretty impressive riders, none-the-less. It becomes increasingly intriguing whether Hughes, at the age of 30 and after near career-ending head injuries (multiple concussions) can return to national championship (two and four-stroke) racing and run with the leaders next month.
