Las Vegas Rain Could Play Into Reed’s Hands

Yamaha Photo of the Day

Forecasted rain for Las Vegas, Nevada beginning tomorrow mid-day is good news for Team Yamaha and Chad Reed. After all, Ricky Carmichael needs only fifth place to take the title tomorrow night at the final round of the AMA Supercross series in Vegas if Reed wins the race. On a dry track, Carmichael could get fifth place in his sleep (well, almost).

Yamaha and Reed need some good luck or, conversely, some bad luck to happen to Carmichael and Team Honda. Good luck and bad luck become much more prominent in a mud race . . . particularly, a mud supercross. Among other things, crashes and mechanical failures become far more frequent. Basically, strange and unlikely things tend to happen in muddy supercross races. Since Reed and Yamaha need a strange and unlikely evening to walk away with the title, they would have to be happy about the weather forecast.
