Roughly one-half way through today’s AMA Superbike race at Road Atlanta, Mat Mladin’s Suzuki suffered a rear tire failure, forcing him to retire from the race (he was unhurt). At that point, Mladin surrendered the lead, and his teammate Aaron Yates held off Kawasaki’s Eric Bostrom for the win. Honda’s Kurtis Roberts finished third.
Yates takes over the championship series points lead, pushing Mladin into second place. The second half of the Road Atlanta double-header will take place tomorrow. For additional details, results and points, visit the official AMA Superbike web site here.
