Series points leader, and defending champion, Valentino Rossi (Honda) won the Italian GP at Mugello today, ahead of fellow Italians Loris Capirossi (Ducati) and Max Biaggi (Honda).
Rossi took the lead roughly halfway through the race, and came out on top, although Capirossi and Biaggi stayed relatively close to the end. As a side note, the Ducatis of Capirossi and Bayliss (who crashed out of the GP — unhurt) recorded scorching top speeds on Mugello’s long straight (205 mph).
