In its debut season, Ducati has won the sixth round of the MotoGP series with Loris Capirossi aboard at the Catalunya circuit in Spain. Capirossi and Honda’s Valentino Rossi battled much of the race, with Rossi making a mistake (and an off-track excursion) that handed Capirossi the lead and, eventually, the win. Rossi recovered to finish second, with Sete Gibernau (Honda) third.
