If Kawasaki follows the 1800cc Honda VTX with the rumored 2000cc Mean Streak this year, where will it all end? We already know “bigger is better” is the mentality that seems to govern the development of new cruisers these days, but will the manufacturers continue a game of one-upsmanship by continually increasing the displacement of cruiser v-twin engines?
Is there some engineering limit on the size of these things? We don’t know, but we do know that Yamaha’s introduction of the Road Star 1600 several years ago seemed to touch off a displacement war, and that there currently is no end in sight.
