As you probably know, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and (possibly) KTM will bring four-stroke 250 motocross machines to the line next year in supercross and outdoor motocross. Many of these teams are busy signing young riders to contest the 125cc class aboard these new four-strokes.
It appears that most, if not all, of the top riders in the 125cc class next year will be aboard 250cc four-strokes. This is a real turning point for the class as Yamaha has been the only manufacturer with a competitive 250cc four-stroke, thus far. As these young riders graduate to the 250cc class later, they will be more comfortable staying on four-strokes. This “four-stroke generation” will hasten the changeover to four-strokes as the dominant supercross/motocross machines in all classes.
