The year was 2000, and Australian off-road master Shane Watts was toying with the elite of American motorcycle racing in the GNCC series. On his way to the GNCC championship, Watts switched from bike-to-bike, trying out virtually the entire KTM stable, and winning. Not too surprising, really, given Watts resume at that time. His performance in the World Enduro championships and the ISDE made the Americans easy prey.
In 2001, however, things started to go wrong for Watts, and injuries and bad luck became the norm for the next couple of years. Coming back would be difficult.
Roughly two years after his last victory, Watts has finally won another GNCC race (this past weekend). On top of a significant enduro victory a bit earlier this year, Watts is back in winning form. Welcome back.
