With all the Honda 450s found at supermoto races, both local, regional and national, you had to wonder when Yamaha would emerge as a player in the AMA Supermoto series with its YZ450F. Well, a former Yamaha motocross champion was apparently a little bored, and needed some excitement in his life, and this proves to be the perfect marriage.
We are talking about Doug Henry, of course, who was a podium player in his first major supermoto race a few weeks ago, and has been practicing on his YZ450F Yamaha for this weekend’s AMA supermoto round. As we have pointed out several times before, motocross racers seem to make the fastest supermoto racers, and Doug Henry proves it, once again.
Although Henry’s YZ (with a five-speed, WR transmission?) may be a blue pebble in a red sea for a while (no, we haven’t forgotten the orange KTMs), look for him near the front of the pack.
